In addition, the total number of visitors from January to June 2023 reached 10.712 million, surpassing the 10 million mark as of the first half of the year.
By region, the number of foreign visitors to Japan increased in East Asia, including Taiwan, and in Europe, the U.S., Australia, and the Middle East, especially in the U.S. and Australia, the number of visitors recovered to exceed that of the same month in 2019, which was a factor boosting this month.
As for scheduled international flights, the number of flights has recovered to approximately 60% of the pre-Corona disaster level as of the summer timetable of 2023, and flights have continued to be increased and resumed since then, mainly in East Asia.
